Oh rainy Sunday mornings, you are my favourite. After a busy day yesterday I stayed in bed far too late this morning listening to the rain pattering down outside snuggled up with Chris and Penny. We let the light filter in as we played with Penny and Sunday morning woke us slowly. In the spirit of a quiet, lazy day I am sipping tea, listening to The Guardian Books Podcast and reflecting on all I have to be grateful for this week. A happy Sunday morning to you all too, here is my Nourished Life Gratitude List 2016 – Week Thirty-Eight:I made a new friend this week! One of our neighbours saw that I was a runner and she is too so we decided to run together on Friday morning. It was so great having company that early in the morning, and she’s a bit faster than I am so it made me pick up the pace and challenge myself. We are planning on running together at least once a week. I’m grateful for making new friends, and finding a new running buddy.
This week marks 13 months until Chris and I say ‘I Do’! The photo above is from the night we first met! We were both attending my best friend’s wedding because she and Chris grew up together in Roma. I am grateful to have this ‘Once upon a time…’ moment in our relationship documented, and that in 13 months I get to walk down the aisle and bind my life to this wonderful man!
I have the best lunch mate. She’s always interested in motivating me to eat my fruit and vegetables – as long as I share with her of course! Chris was home on Friday so he came and picked me up from work (we are a one car household) for lunch! I got to sit out in the backyard and help him put together our new barbecue and enjoy some sunshine and Penny kisses while I ate my salad and apple. I was grateful to have our little family together for lunch on a random weekday – these are the extraordinary ordinary moments that make up a wonderful life.
On Friday night I met up with my girlfriends for sangria and amazing Spanish food. If you are in Brisbane I highly recommend Ole Sangria and Tapas Bar. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian dishes available too! After talking and sipping and laughing over dinner we strolled around Southbank and took in the beautiful Brisbane views for a while. I am grateful that these ladies who I met in high school have stayed my friends all these years and that we can share our ups and our downs and walk side by side through life. I am also truly grateful for grapefruit and lychee sangria.
Saturday was busy with more friend plans! I love weekends like this that recharge my soul! I met up with Casey and Mum for breakfast and chats at the markets in the morning, then walked to the gym for a kettlebell and sprinting circuit (feeling it this morning) and then Chris and I got hard to work getting ready for a barbecue with a whole heap of friends! Chris actually built our barbecue all by himself this week while I was working late. I am grateful that he took on the challenge, and I am looking forward to lots of barbecues this summer! We had the best night and of course Miss Penny was the star of the show! I really enjoyed the blend of friends we had here last night, and I fell into bed with a smile on my face and gratitude for a great evening.
Okay, friends, what are you grateful for this week?
